I have had today’s blog post on my mind for a while now. I began writing it, I then deleted it. I began it again and deleted it again. Well today I am not only going to start it but I am going to finish it. Sometimes when we know we are supposed to share something the Lord has laid on our hearts the enemy has a way of sneaking into our thoughts and helping us find so many reasons we shouldn’t write something. We begin to have thoughts such as maybe I’m the wrong person for this. I don’t know enough about this subject. People with judge me and think unwanted thoughts towards me. The big thing I have noticed it the many distractions. The kids, their noise, our phones, calls and texts. Something always seems to be more pressing, more urgent. But, really it’s not it’s just what the enemy wants us to think to distract us from what the Lord is calling us to do, write or say. I’ve learned every. single. time we give into the distractions he wins. Yes, I am preaching to the choir here.
The subject is near and dear to me and I am sure it will show my age. I had my days of wearing exactly about what I am advocating about today. I had my days of rebellion and testing God and how far he would let me go before he would quit bringing me back. It’s not something I recommend. EVER! It’s a tough road for sure.
I am guilty of saying this “Modest is Hottest!” claiming it and then teaching it to my daughters. There is an actress we all know and most of us love. She is the one all Chrisitan girls look to as their Hollywood example of the modest one. She preaches and teaches modesty. She was on Dancing with the Stars a few seasons ago. We all know some of the racy controversial attire for a modest Christian woman would have to wear to be on a show like DWTS. Well, the infamous Candance Cameron Bure is who I am talking about. Let me let you know I am NOT judging her. Only pointing out how we call our Modest is Hottest Role model is representing. She even stated the following quotes:
“I won’t be the sexiest one out there,” she said. “I am a mom, and I want to be a good role model for my children and my husband. But I think for each dance we’ll wear what reflects the dance but in the most classy way possible.
“I want to represent all the moms out there and inspire them and encourage them,” she told Us magazine. “I’m just a woman. I’m not any different than all the moms out there — my priority is my family, my husband, my kids and so this for me is truly just a joy.”
Like I said, Maybe my age is showing however, it is something I regret ever telling them. It is something we should NEVER tell our daughters, sisters, and friends about themselves or ourselves. After coming to this conclusion I decided to research the meaning of the word “hottest” as used in the phrase Modest is hottest. Merriam-Webster dictionary

So, OH MY WORD!!! We are telling our daughters, sisters, and friends that modest is SEXY and EROTIC? Why? Because it was something some hip youth pastor said to us at one point? Well, it stops here!!! Sisters, STOP telling anyone and everyone MODEST IS HOTTEST! Modest is classy, humble, kind, service, worship, obedience, chastity, charity, loving, God fearing, pure, being spirit filled and beautiful. So, in conclusion STOP IT, STOP TODAY telling the little ladies, and young ladies you are raising to follow a Godly example in how a modest lady should not only act but dress stop allowing them to believe Modest is Hottest. IT IS NOT!! Modest is now and always has been not only the way we dress. But, the way we act, the way we carry ourselves and how we represent ourselves, our husbands and most importantly or obedience to God.
